Responsible for the overall operation of golf course maintenance. These responsibilities include turf grass maintenance, property management, irrigation maintenance, pesticide applications and recording and personnel management. The golf course superintendent works to create an environment where staff is enthusiastic and with open communication.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Directs and participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds
Is able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
Is able to work closely with pro shop personnel for play schedule and coordination of special projects
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years’ experience as a golf course superintendent or as a first assistant
Possess a valid driver’s license
Possess a current pesticide applicator’s license or able to be certified within three months of hire
Ability to utilize best practices for turf maintenance
Knowledge of equipment and the operation of tools used in golf course maintenance and construction
To be able to anticipate equipment and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repairs
