What it’s all about:
This grant-funded position will identify opportunities throughout the state with private landlords, property managers, and public housing agencies (PHAs) to expedite the process of transitioning voucher holders from unstable/inappropriate housing or homelessness, to leasing a qualified unit. This position will continue while the program is funded
What you’ll do on a daily basis:
Increase the capacity of private landlords, property managers, and PHAs participating in the Emergency Housing Voucher program that target extremely low-income residents.
Develop working relationships with landlords and property managers to locate vacancies and incentivize participation in Rhode Island Housing administered programs
Support the implementation and promotion of HomelocatorRI.net.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to link eligible households to eligible units and coordinate appropriate assistance as needed.
Perform special projects, serve on task forces, or make presentations as directed.
What you’ll bring to the team:
This position is responsible for identifying new, immediate housing opportunities for individuals and families with Emergency Housing Vouchers.
The essential scope of work includes maintaining an awareness of the number and configuration of households who are seeking a home and identifying those qualified units in the state.
The incumbent will contact potential landlords, PHAs and property managers to establish and develop relationships, promoting landlord incentives and other available benefits.
Duties include communicating with service providers and the larger system of stakeholders to ensure a consistent flow of information and rapid deployment of resources.
Minimum of three years of experience in real estate, preferably experience working with low-income families/individuals
Highly organized with the ability to complete assignments autonomously and in a timely manner, involving community stakeholders when appropriate
Ability to travel throughout the state of Rhode Island
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Bilingual ability preferred (particularly Spanish or Portuguese)
Strong organizational, computer and problem-solving skills
Ability to exercise mature judgement and address different audiences appropriately
