We are looking for a Residence Life Coordinator to join the Office of Student Affairs and our Residence Life team. Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, you will contribute to the development of our student population through a variety of experiences including developing social, educational and leadership initiatives. You will have creative license in designing and implementing the Residence Life training curriculum for the whole Resident Advisor staff. You will work on initiatives that will drive the Residence Life commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), with the goal of creating an environment free from bias, prejudice and discrimination.The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the support and oversight of about 300 undergraduate resident students living in 3-4 campus buildings.Responsibilities: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Training:Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of all Resident Advisor trainings (hosted in August, December, May)Participate in strategic planning and departmental goal setting for DE&I and collaborate with campus departments to implement college-wide DE&I goals and programmingCoordinate DE&I professional development for Residence Life staffPromote inclusive Residence Advisor hiring and recruitment practices that foster a diverse work environmentRepresent Residence Life on college-wide committees and initiatives related to diversity and inclusion programmingResidence Life Management:Manage the day-to-day operations and administration of the residences halls including but not limited to the maintenance of order, reporting repairs, coordinating openings and closures, as well as the approval of room changesMaintain appropriate management records and provide written reports and summaries as requested by the Director of Residence LifeRepresent the Office of Residence Life on designated committees and at networking or other programming events including Summer Orientation and Campus Life Team MeetingsAttend professional training workshops provided by Residence Life, Talent and Human Capital Strategy, Student Life and COFParticipate in projects related to the departmental goalsCoordinate the residence hall property and inventory damage billing proceduresPerform inspections of student rooms to maintain appropriate standards of health, safety, and maintenance as directed by the Director of Residence LifeEstablish effective working relationships with other campus offices and departments to ensure quality services for the resident populationSupervising:Supervise 8-11 Resident Advisors and one graduate assistantSupport Resident Advisors in their planning, organizing, and directing of student activities and programs within the residence hall, ensuring programming aligns with DE&I objectives and goalsSupervise and evaluate performance of Resident Assistants and graduate assistant, establishing goals and measuring their performanceConduct ongoing weekly supervisory meetings and periodic staff development sessions with staff on a group and individual basisStudent Engagement:Become acquainted with residents to facilitate referrals to appropriate academic and/or administrative departmentsHold regular weekly office hours in their buildings and attend Resident Assistant programs in order to be available and accessible to residentsProvide appropriate counseling, advice and support to students around academic and personal growth concernsServe as the primary hearing officer for conduct matters concerning students residing in the residence hallsSupport Resident Advisors in their management of student concernsQualifications: Masters? degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field3+ years of experience in residence life/housing or professional experience working with underrepresented student populationsPrior experience in higher educationProven commitment to diversity, social justice, and student development in relation to creating an inclusive residential communityPrevious experience in a supervisory or management roleExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsComfortable working with and managing complex and personal situations with professionalism, discretion while respecting confidentialityAvailable to respond to situations that arise during Holidays, weekends and evenings including participation in "on-call" on a rotating basis and crisis response for on-campus studentsRemuneration/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience, the position includes a furnished apartment, an on campus meal plan during the academic year and on-campus parking.Instructions to Applicants: Please submit a resume and cover letter in the Resume/CV section of your application.As a College committed to diversity, Simmons encourages applications broadly.
